Seriously, what is the point in a PVE chapter or playing PVE anymore when you know it's impossible to migrate characters to GW2?
So GW2 happens hundreds years after GW1, thus GW1 characters should be dead. It's a bad argument. Come on! Type /deaths ingame and see oh no they've already died hundreds / thousands times.
Ok, GW2 will be a totally different game than GW1 and if want to play GW2 i have to start it from scratch. In that case i think twice what that game will be, not in 2008, but now.
At least less load on EU servers.

Just on a side note to all "Grinding" issues. Hardcore players spend lots of time advancing in different ways. Wouldn't these be considered grinding..
-Working your @$$ of for weeks/months to get KoBD
-Farming Bosses for green Drops
-Chest running(title 4 at the lowest)
-DoA(dual-quad runs)..or even pugging a single at times for that matter
-Any other multiple hour activity
All these things can take hours of play everyday. Most people don't have but a few hours a night to play if they have a job. I myself would consider these things "Grinding". The word doesn't only apply to Lvl'ing a character.

Immature or just pissed off that ANet would change the game you've been regularly playing for ~ 2 years to something like WoW?
I've read a bit more of whats been posted and I'm understanding that it's more like: Buy CH2 and play a "GW" game (that's different) or buy a new expansion for the GW you play now. I guess I'll take comfort in knowing that most people will choose part b).
Pfft, also. You're talking about fow armour and eye candy now? I hope you enjoy griding for your tier5 axe and your epic flying mount, sir.
But yeah, you're right. I'm not ANet, and what I think, aswell as everybody here, doesn't matter. I guess I can look on the bright side, if all goes bad at least GW won't interfere with my final years at school.
Thanks,

With making "jumping, swimming etc." possible they obviously don't add code to the current existing engine for it would not competitive enough in 2009 and right now is flawed to a degree (bridge trapping ftl).
I expect to see a totally new engine, rewritten from scratch, with DX10 content, yet however manageable enough for lower-class computers but less eye-candy.
Maybe Mrs.Gray can reveal more about the technical aspects?

The last "expansion" reminds me of Sorrows Furnace, except we have to pay for it.
What I see happening in the future is the following. All the children, all the less skilled players will be thrilled about the cute asura, and their lvl 100 characters. The more Pvp oriented players will leave. My self included eventhough I play both, pve more recently.
On the attempt to compete with with Wow. I honestly dont think there is a chance. In 2 years time they will be way ahead with content. Also there is a reason why Wow is so popular. Warcraft was already an established franchise. So no matter what they do they will always be ahead.
Anyway there is a lot I can say but Ill end it off here. My opinion is that this was a bad move.

Lets face facts, people are and always have been afraid of change.
Myself included, however, I do think given the time frame that the change is do and will be a good thing overall.
While I will miss my Fow Warrior and his plethora of cool weapons the chance to explore a new world while interacting live with large numbers of people is something I will look forward to.
Playing new races and having no lvl cap will have one drawback, but one I think I can live with. In GW I've had the chance to play every proffesion and lvl them up to max and accuire most all skills for each class. I truelly can't see myself doing that in a high lvl cap/no cap game. So I will likely pick a couple classes and play for a short time to find one I love and then stick to it forever.
I will not abbandon GW1, however by the time that GW2 is available there wont be much left for me to do and I'll be looking forward to a new challange.

YOu know what A-Net!
You lied to us all about the AUCTION HOUSE!
Where is it?
I am not buying another product if I have to see WTS WTB spamming everywhere.
Hey Everyone guess what. Thunderhead Keep is still Bugged. But arena net thinks they have what it takes to make a new game. Not with my money they don't.

I play GW, i enjoy to play GW. Playing Videogame is a waste of time (you play for fun, not for life) but i like it. It dosen't matter how much time I spent playing gw, i like it and i'll play (if i can) the same ammount of hours n GW2.
Good work Anet

Nicely said and lol@ "tier5 axe and your epic flying mount". xDDD
I know you posters won't miss me, when I say I will not by GW2, but I know that Anet will be missing a customer. I may seem like one small person, but I'm not alone. I know of many who bought GW for GW and not for WoW, and what with the bleak outlook on the new game, I will not buy it. I'm not crying out for attention, and neither are people like Ninja, when we say we are not joining GW2. As somebody said earlier, Anet is, in the end, just trying to make a profit. They care about pleasing us, with updates etc, to keep us motivated to play and buy new chapters. They care to hear what our input is because in the end, we are the ones paying their salaries. So they put up with our childish rants and "tantrums" and flames and try to weed out what the majority want. And well, since it is after all a business, Anet will certainly care to hear statements such as "I will not buy the next game and here is why ____". It is a business and we are buying their product. If customers are unhappy with the product, they will leave and find a new one. What would you do if you bought a box of chocolates and what you got inside was carrots and peas? Would you eat the carrots and peas and say "well... I guess I'll conform with this" or would you say "I bought chocolate and now I want chocolate" and then bring the box back and never buy something at that store again? You'd be an unhappy customer. We all bought GW1 because it was GW1. We got what we bargained for. We bought all of the chapters thinking we're giong to get more, etc. And now we're being told that they aren't living up to the expectations that they gave us, with their promise of new chapters every 6 months. IMO it's like finding carrots and peas in my box of chocolates.

I'm not sure why everyone's complaining about GW2. It has no bearing or affect what-so-ever on the game you're currently playing, which means the hard earned money you spent on it is still working for you. You're getting what you payed for. If GW2 doesn't have the features you like, just don't buy it.
After all, money talks, right? We'll see if what Anet is doing is worth it. How successful do you think GW2 will be?

I feel disappointed overall.
With no option to bring characters across I might as well stop playing and just wait until GW 2 comes out and consider things from there. I don't care about achievements or titles on my characters, or bringing those forward. I'd prefer to bring my characters themselves across.
Ultra high level cap? Bah.
Well that's the best solution to storage and ultra rich players. Just make everything you have worthless as it cant be bought forward. I expect skills wouldn't be bought across either. It's the end of everything.
Overall sounds like something for the younger crowd.
